Season 27th will be remember by Red Star fans as the season Drazen Cetnik could pull on the rainbow jersey for the 2nd time. After a couple of wins throughout the season, he showed his great potentials by outrunning the world elite in the roads of Belgium.
Red star ended season 27 at 17th place in the world, with 2168 points. Same was achieved by scoring 15 solid results of which 5 where wins!
Team Manager Petter was asked give his tough about this season highlights:
“Looking back, We had a good start to the season. Dino managed some results in Tweedaagse, and Drazen followed up with 2 podiums in the early climbing classics. Drazen went on to win the YC of Vuelta de los Castillos, before he prepared for Germany tour. Expected by many to dominate the GT, he won both toughest climbing stages. However, GC and YC jersey was lost on a miserable TT. Drazen still proved his physical and psychological strength by winning the WC, and the team are truly proud of him.
I am also very happy to see that our new sprinter Bartlomiej have proven he is worth his sign on fee by scoring several points in the NL tour. “
The team had 6 riders racing in points; Cetnik dominated with 10 results and all of the teams 5 wins. Bartlomiej Tokarz proved he had something to do at the front of peloton in the sprinting stages during NL tour. Dino scored some point in TwA and Astana tour, while the Wayne scored some points in the hilly races. Our TT specialists Sven and Teun wrapped up the team collection of points by scoring some results against the clock.
On next season goal, our manager have the following comments:
“Even though Cetnik already has established himself as a superstar, he will still only be 25 year old next season. Hence, he has stated that he want the YC of vuelta and GT in the same season. We are also very excited with our new Canadian riders. Joshua is starting to look like a solid puncher, and we expect Moncur to become a solid sprinter.
On a separate note, Teun and Sven have requested to change teams, and hence we are likely to see our TT team disappear."
